Margaret Cook Obituary

Margaret Ann Cook
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret Ann Cook, age 90, of Bad Axe, who passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 4, 1935, in Rapson, MI, daughter of the late Edward and Leona (Itchue) Koceba. She is survived by her sister, Loretta Hoose, and preceded in death by her brother, Edward Kociba; and brother-in-law, Bill Hoose; and sister-in-law, Arlene Schultz.
Margaret's greatest pride was her family, especially her five children with the late Raymond F. Cook. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Larry) Johnston; son, Steve Cook (Kimberly Herrington); son, David (Kimberly) Cook; son, Michael (Cindy) Cook; and daughter, Annette (Jim) Wilson. She has seven grandchildren, Katie (Danny) Morris, Megan (Nate) Smith, Taylor (Jake) Wilson, Trevor Wilson, Hanna Cook, Tessa Wilson, and Michael Cook. She also has four great-grandchildren, Jaxon Morris, Sienna Morris, Ty Smith, and Cal Smith.
Margaret grew up in Rapson, MI. After graduating high school, she obtained her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Margaret began working at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe on January 16, 1972, and had been employed full-time for 44 years. She continued her passion part-time for an additional four years with officially retiring at the age of 85. Margaret was recognized by all as the "Nurse with a Cap," a 48 year tradition that symbolized her respect and commitment to nursing values and traditions.
Margaret touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Rapson, Michigan.
