Michael Apley Obituary
Michael Scott Apley, age 49 of Essexville passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Michael was born on March 22, 1975 in Harbor Beach to Larry and Catherine Apley. Mike graduated from Bad Axe High School in the class of 1993. He went to school to study auto mechanics to pursue his passion for making "motors run".
On April 26, 2003, he married Rachel McIntosh and moved to Essexville. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and car racing. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and family. Mike was always fixing something and had a project to work on.
Mike is survived by his wife of 21 years, Rachel; a son Zachary, and a daughter Natalie of Essexville. His mother Cathy Apley of Bad Axe; two brothers, Donald (Pam) Apley of Bad Axe and Jeremy (Maddy) Apley of Filion. His grandmothers, Margaret Apley and Arvella Schuman both of Bad Axe. In-laws, Dan and Sylvia McIntosh of Elkton, brother-in-law, Michael McIntosh of Bad Axe. Nieces, Allison Apley of Filion, Jalie McIntosh of Bad Axe, and Mariah (Jeremy) Will of Grand Rapids and nephew, Chase McIntosh of Bad Axe. Uncles, Larry (Ellen), Denis, Arnold and Kenneth Schuman, Rory (Mary) McIntosh, Archie "Pat" McIntosh, Michael (Edrea) Cokins, and Richard (Patti) Cokins. Aunts, Diane (James) Trelewski, Elaine (Steve) Jias, Lori (Mark) Harris, and Mary "Denise" Gibbs. Mike is also survived by many cherished cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Apley and grandfathers, Allen Apley and Donald Schuman.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11 am at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 4 – 8 pm and Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 10 am until the service time at 11 am at the funeral home.
