So sorry about the passing of Arthur Meyers. He was the Director of the Hammond Public Library in Hammond, IN. He was my supervisor there for many years. He was very enthusiastic about libraries and learning. The library world lost a true supporter. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I was saddened to hear of Arthur's passing. Arthur was a good friend to my father, Jerry Kabel. May you find comfort in his memory.

Arthur was a very fine man. I shall always remember his steadfast acts of friendship to my parents, especially our father, Jerry Kabel. In our dad´s later years Arthur would come by the house with books he thought my parents might enjoy reading. He would regularly take our dad out to lunch, just to chat. Arthur and Marcia personally produced a video reminiscence in which our parents spoke about their lives in Middletown. Arthur and Marcia would regularly visit our parents, keeping them informed about the goings on in Middletown. This was truly a generous act by a generous man.
Arthur exemplified so many good things; both as an American, a citizen of Middletown, a scholar, a community leader and a mensch. He enriched our family´s lives in many ways. It has been an honor to have known him.

I was so fortunate to have met Art through the Spiritual Book Club. He will live in the hearts of those he has left behind.

My deepest condolences to Naomi and Ruth, and to Stella, Darcy and Francesca. I celebrate Mass every other week at the Village at South Farms in Middletown, where Arthur was introduced to me by one of my parishioners, Doris LeBlanc. Among Arthur´s many accomplishments, was his expertise on Msgr. John Ryan´s ("Monsignor New Deal") career as champion of social justice. I shall miss our stimulating conversations on a wide range of mutual interests. Our acquaintance has been a decided blessing for me. May his memory be an ongoing blessing for his family, and for his wide circle of friends and admirers!
