Corinda Marsilli Obituary

Corinda Santina Marsilli
A journey that begin almost 98 years ago in the small Italian town of Cosentina, ended almost 98 years later in Middletown, CT, on October 11th, 2022 with the passing of Corinda Santina Marsilli. A life that long is filled with much joy and sorrow. Corinda loved her family - her husband, Frank, Sr. and son, Peter, both who predeceased her. She is survived by her younger son, Frank, Jr. She was proud of her work and skills as a master seamstress, and leader of the workroom at Itkin's Decorators in Middletown, where she worked for many years. She and Frank, Sr. worked and saved to send both their sons to college, while still saving enough to purchase land and build their own home on Lee Street in Middletown. For both, their home, though modest, was priceless and a source of tremendous pride. Corinda cared for both her son, Peter, and husband, Frank Sr., at home as Peter fought terminal cancer, and Frank, Sr. learned to live out the last years of his life with a prosthetic right leg. The love, care and compassion she provided for those two can't be measured. Her family would like to acknowledge three angels on earth who helped provide home care for her over the last 7 years. Those angels are Donna Taylor, Maria Palmira Cardoso Easter, and Nereida Chase. The wonderful Sisters of the Lady of the Garden, whose mission is to educate the children at Gianelli's Early Learning Center, also played a special and important role in Corinda's life. The Sisters loved her, and she loved the Sisters, especially her dear friend, Sister Consolata. Both Corinda and Frank, Sr. spent countless hours doing volunteer work for the Sisters at their school. The Sisters remained in touch with Corinda right to her final days. Three special nieces and nephews never wavered in the care and love they showed Corinda – John Marselli, Mary Lee Sheehy and Ray Lolli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 17th at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Church, Middletown. Friends may call at the Coughlin Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown, on Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Sebastian's Cemetery, Middlefield.

Dear Frankie,

We are so very sorry for your loss. You were an amazing son who stayed by his Mother's side the same as she did for her family. I have no doubt she is without suffering and was welcomed into Heaven into our Lord's arms. We will keep you and your family in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. We love you.

Love Shaun, Tania & Bogey (your BFF) xoxo

We will always remember Corrine for kindness and generosity, always welcoming and making sure we knew she enjoyed our visits and our company. She would make sure our children had a special treat, and make sure to take an interest in what they were doing at any point in their lives. Her strong religious faith through all the difficulties and challenges that life gave her, was truly inspirational. She will be greatly missed.

With much love and gratitude,

Mark, Tracy, Aaron and Abbi Marselli

Aunt Corinne, you were such a strong and loving aunt. You were a constant source of support and care to me. So much so that it seemed as if you'd be around forever.
You often wondered out loud why God had decided to keep you amongst us when those that you loved and cared for were no longer with us. I would try to cheer you up in the words of Uncle Frank, and say that you still had a couple more "notches" left.
But, it's ok. You will not need to wonder, nor suffer any longer.
Please keep an eye on us- like you always did. Wooden spoon and all!
I Love And Miss You Already,
Lee Lee

Dear Frank, my condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mother. What a beautiful obituary. I love how you described her life and her devotion to you, your father and your brother. My favorite memory of her is when you invited me to lunch and she made homemade polenta. It was absolutely delicious. When I went back to work I felt like taking a nap! And I am so glad I was able to attend her birthday party at Wesleyan last year. She is reunited with your father and your brother. May you have many wonderful memories of all of them to sustain you. Until you see them again. In deepest sympathy, my friend. John

Frank, I know how painful it was for you to see your mother´s health fail. You showed how much you cared for her. You will have that forever in you to offer you solace. My sincere sympathy, Christine Salamone
