Edgar A. Prince Sr. Obituary
Born March 27, 1920, in Lowell, Mass., he was a son of the late Ernest and Mary (Taugue) Prince. Edgar graduated from Cambridge City Trade School in Cambridge, Mass., and then joined the Massachusetts National Guard. He then transferred to the 82nd Airborne. Edgar served in the European Theater during World War II. He was discharged in September 1945 and married his love, Emma E. Parsons, on Sept. 29, 1945. They both lived in Connecticut their entire married life. He is a past commander of American legion Post No. 64. He is a past camp commander at Camp 55 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, past department commander and past New England Regional commander of the SOUVC, a member of the Connecticut Yankee All American Airborne and a member of the Fowler Dix Park V.F.W. 5095. He was a volunteer fireman and a member of the East Hampton Fireman's Recreational Association and past president of the Middlesex County fire and police associations. Edgar was also a member of the East Hampton Congregational Church.
He is survived by his three sons, Alfred Prince of Colchester, Edgar Prince Jr. of Oakdale and Robert Prince of East Hampton; a daughter Mary Alice Hale of Enfield; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his brother Henry Prince of Jersey City, N.J., and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at D Upper at the Rocky Hill Veteran's Home who took such good care of Edgar for the last three years.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 16, at 3 p.m. at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown. Calling hours will be Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edgar and Emma the original power couple, the power of good works and caring. Everytime I saw them it was like old home day and I was left with a smile. If it's possible Heaven is an even better place for having them there.

He will be long remembered for his unselfish acts of fraternity, charity and loyalty. As he joins his brothers in khaki and in faded coats of blue, we shall salute him and keep him in our hearts.

We worked on many veterans events together. Edgar gave back or always brought more to the table than he ever took away. The world needs more Edgars, this guy will be missed by many....Airborne All the Way

Edgar Prince was a soldier. He rode a glider into the fight at Sicily, then carried a rifle through Italy, and when he was done with that he parachuted into Holland in Operation Market Garden, "A Bridge Too Far." One of the quiet heroes among us. , Edgar Prince.
