Edward White Obituary

White, Edward C.
Edward C. White, 89, a life-long resident of Middletown, CT, passed away April 13, 2018. He was born September 1, 1928 to Frederick and Bernice (Dorflinger) White. He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 57 years, Earldine (Bryant) White. Ed had an unprecedented early-to-rise early-to-bed farmer's work ethic, owning and operating Pleasant View Dairy with his brother Jimmy as an active farm until 1975. He worked 21 years for the Public Works Department of the City of Middletown until his retirement in 1994. He was a lifetime member of the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department where he proudly served for 66 years. Ed was a kind and gentle man with a love of nature and hard work, which led him on many camping excursions with Earldine, family and friends. He loved to maintain and repair his farm equipment, including his treasured John Deere tractors. He kept busy working in his vegetable garden and bailing hay when the sun was shining until he was 86 years old. Ed would do anything for his family; in his own words, it was his joy and love of family that kept him alive even while struggling with health issues. He was admired and will be sorely missed by his children Roxann White, Westley White, David White (deceased 2004), Kyle Barreuther, and Shelly White-Feshler and husband Tim Feshler; grandchildren, Alex and Max Barreuther, Morgan and Maddy Feshler, Kelly (White) Ferrisi, Ryan White and Rachel Sweeney; his great grandchildren Kierstin, Dana, Nolan and Asher, and four great great grandchildren. Ed also leaves behind his brother Jim and his wife Rita, many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by siblings Walter, Eleanor Wilcox, and Robert. Ed's family would like to thank the entire staff at The Village at South Farms for their compassionate care for Ed during the last year of his life.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held May 12 at 11:00 at Miner Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter, ATTN: New Haven Walk To End Alzheimer's, 200 Executive Blvd S, Suite 4B, Southington CT 06489, noting that it is in memory of Edward White, Event ID 11110, Participant ID 13623565, Team ID 464373 or at the following website: http://act.alz.org/site/TR?pg=personal&px=13623565&fr_id=11110

It was very clear that Ed was a wonderful father and a very sweet man to all of us at The Village. Someone from the family was always there to have dinner with him and he never went without. Ed always had a quick wit. I enjoyed our banter about whether or not I owed him money for hay or whether or not we could get the tractor out of the ditch.
We mourn everyone who passes at The Village but I have especially missed Ed these past weeks. I hope his loving devoted family is able to find comfort despite this difficult loss. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the White family. I appreciate that I had the opportunity to know all of you this past year. You all inspire me to be a better caretaker, and I thank you for that.

Ed was a good neighbor, friend, father and boss when I was a kid growing up with his son Wesley and daughter Roxanne, David,Kyle, and Shelly. He taught us as kids to be responsible for our actions. We are all going to miss him, he was part of the landscape on Higby rd . Me and my family will always remember him and the good times bailing hay, working in the Dairy and helping deliver the milk. Sorry, Wes,Roxy,Kyle and Shelly . Also Jim,Rita,Ruby,Susan,Jimmy, Sally,Patty,Pam. We will say a prayer for all of you Love,Linda & Martin Mierz and Family.
