Elizabeth DiFranco Obituary

Elizabeth DiFranco
Elizabeth "Betty" Ann DiFranco, age 78, of Westbrook, formerly of Middletown and Wallingford, passed away on Friday, September 10th at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Anthony DiFranco III who predeceased her earlier this year on February 24th. Betty was born in Middletown, CT on September 24, 1942, the daughter of the late Mariano and Josephine (Vicchito) Passinese. She married her beloved husband on April 12, 1969, and the couple made their home and raised their family in Wallingford. Betty and Charlie later relocated to Westbrook, where they made many special friendships all while enjoying the view of Long Island Sound. Betty loved to cook and enjoyed crabbing, and would often invite family and friends over for food and fun. She found tremendous pleasure in decorating her home and restoring antiques, but her greatest joy was in spending quality time with her family. Over the last several years, Betty loved to watch her grandchildren play on the beach and swim in the ocean outside of her home, which she generously opened up to family and friends alike. Though saddened that she didn't have more years to share with the youngest members of the family, her memory will undoubtedly live on, in no small part due to the striking resemblance inherited by her only granddaughter. Betty is survived by her son, Daniel DiFranco and wife, Jennie; her grandchildren, Domenico Charles and Sophia Giuliana; her brother, Larry Passinese and his wife, Barbara; many nieces, nephews and countless other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 15th at 10:00AM, directly at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St., Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Sebastian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home. www.wallingfordfh.com

I'm sorry I'm just getting to write this message now, but I had to say that I loved "Aunt" Betty as if she were my own blood, not just my "step aunt". She took my mom, me, my sister Beth and my children into her heart and her home and was always the kindest, sweetest person to us. I miss her so much and will never forget her beautiful smile and kindness. I don't think we will ever play Trivial Pursuit again without you and Uncle Charlie playing with us. God Bless you Danny and Jennie, you're in my thoughts and prayers. Love you Aunt Betty

Danny and Jen, What can I say, my heart is broken. I loved Betty not only as a sister-in -law by as my true sister. We would talk on the phone frequently about past memories that we shared and about our deep love for our children and grandchildren.Betty was the best and Charlie and she were the best partners together. I will never forget those wonderful family gatherings at your lovely home both in Wallingford and at the shore in Westbrook. Your generosity, hard work and laughter will always remain with me and my family forever So now lovely sister, I will never say goodbye but "Till We Met Again"in God´s Kingdom. I Love you

My heart is breaking, I will always remember your beautiful smile and your loving and kind heart. You were my sister-in-law but more than that, you were my friend and a sister to me. You treated my family and all of your friends as though they were a part of your family. I will miss our Christmas dinners together with you and Charlie. Charlie always loved singing Christmas carols, and you would sing along. I will always remember the last Christmas together when you set a napkin on fire in the kitchen, we laughed so much. We played many trivial pursuit games together. Terra, Beth, you and I, Linda and Aunt Lee on one team, Charlie, Larry and Danny on the other side. You know the girls were always smarter. But don’t tell Charlie that. I will miss you so much, but you are in a better place now. My heart is with you always Betty. love you forever. Barbara

Danny & Jennie, our heartfelt sympathy and condolences on your Mom’s passing. Your Mom was such a kind and loving person. We were truly blessed to know your Mom and Dad. They were truly special people and in a short time became such great friends. Both your parents, always made us laugh and smile and touched us in a special way. Their legacy lives on in all of us, as we remember the impact they made in our lives. We know the past 7 months has been very difficult for your Mom and we now take comfort knowing she is reunited with the love of her life, Charlie, by her side. - Ken & Andrea Messick

My beautiful sweet Betty, I love you so much, my heart is breaking. I know this; you were an angel on earth and you will be an angel in heaven, you will get your wings and you will fly high. I will miss you dearly, it was a privilege and an honor to be your neighbor. I will never forget all the good times we had together. I put the "Rat Pack" on and I can see us all together sitting at the table having fun, Charlie singing out loud to the music. You were like a Mom to me and I would have to say Charlie was like my grumpy Uncle, all in fun. I will hold you close to my heart forever, all that I ask is that you save me a seat at the table. My dear sweet love I will miss you so. God bless you my angel
