GEFFKEN, FREDERICK OTTO On January 5, 2016, Frederick Otto Geffken of Middletown, CT, succumbed to cancer. He was born on February 22, 1938 to Frederick H. and Alvina (Krenz) Geffken. He grew up in Rockfall, CT, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1956. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and became a Technical Illustrator for General Dynamics/Electric Boat and later Thompson Associates of Windsor, CT. He subsequently opened his own business: FOG Studio/Slide Studio which he managed for a number of years. At age 50, he closed his business, enrolled in truck driving school and became a cross country fleet driver for several years. Upon retirement, he pursued his passions of writing, photography, and inventing. He also spent countless hours researching and documenting family history. He was an avid train enthusiast. He leaves behind a brother, Carl Geffken and his wife Jerilyn of Guilford CT; a sister, Lorraine Thompson and her husband Jack, also of Guilford; a daughter, Susan Courtemanche, her husband Joseph of Granby, CT; a son, Frederick Geffken, his wife Kathleen of Richmond, CA. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Cote. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Melissa Cote of Enfield, CT; Tristan and Amanda Courtemanche, and Kaylee Geffken, A memorial service will be held on January 18 at 10 AM, Christ the King Lutheran Church, 465 Park Ave., Windsor, CT.
