Gustavo Quintana Obituary
Gustavo E. Quintana, 95, died Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, at Middlesex Health Hospital. Gustavo was born on December 17, 1927 in Havana, Cuba, one of four siblings who all settled in Middletown, CT, after fleeing communism in their beloved Cuba.
Gustavo was very proud to be an American citizen, and generously helped other immigrants become citizens as well. He would share his love for the United States in many impassioned letters to the editor in the Middletown Press, where he would both rail against Communism and share his pride in being Cuban.
After Gustavo's retirement from Fafnir Bearing in New Britain, he spent many happy years working part-time at Pelton's Pharmacy in Middletown, where he could reliably be found in whatever aisle would most embarrass his daughter.
Gustavo deeply loved all his family and friends, and adored sharing with everyone his love for the New York Yankees, literature and reading, movies, and especially comedies and jokes. He leaves all of our lives with a little less sunshine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius Church in Middletown. D'Angelo Funeral Home in Middletown is in charge of arrangements. The Quintana family is deeply grateful to the staff of Autumn Lake in Cromwell and Middlesex Health for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Parkinson's Foundation, www.parkinson.org .
