Jeremy Adams Obituary

Adams, Jeremy
Jeremy Robert Adams, 50, of Middletown passed away on April 19, 2021. Born on February 4, 1971 he was the son of the late James (Jimmy) Adams and Darlene Lawrence Adams. Jeremy grew up in Portland and attended Portland High School. He graduated from The Center for Culinary Arts. Jeremy leaves a son, Jared, his brother James (Jamie) Adams, Jamie's daughter Summer, niece Mysti with whom he shared a special bond as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jeremy also leaves close friend, Jennifer Binnington. The family is grateful to Josephine Cordova for the love and companionship she gave Jeremy during his last 5 months. Jeremy was predeceased by his parents and his step-father, Steven Poulin as well as by all of his grandparents.
Jeremy died from health complications resulting from a decades long battle with addiction. Jeremy's battle with addiction sometimes led to behaviors that were not consistent with his true character and for which he was remorseful. The whole of Jeremy's life should not be defined by addiction and mistakes. Jeremy was a skilled chef. He was a loving son. Despite sibling spats Jeremy had a tremendous love for his brother, Jamie. Jeremy was a fun cousin. He remembered to call his aunts. He was a devoted uncle. Those who knew him well describe Jeremy as a kind and gentle soul, a helper who maintained an open heart and, when he had one to share, an open door. Jeremy was a friend to many and wanted so much to be free of addiction so that he could live the life of which he dreamed-to have a successful career and a home of his own, to be the best father, brother, nephew, uncle, friend and partner. He wanted what we all want. To be happy.
The disease of addiction does not discriminate and is a national health crisis. Please consider doing whatever you can to advocate for improved treatment and recovery resources for those struggling with addiction.
A celebration of Jeremy's life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday May 15, 2021 at The Church of the Holy Trinity 381 Main Street Middletown, CT 06457
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Jeremy to St. Vincent DePaul P.O. Box 398 Middletown, CT 06457 Attn:Peter

I've known both Jamie and Jeremy for about 20 years and it comes to me as a shock to hear about Jeremy's passing. He was a good friend. I've been with him on both sides of the fence and we've struggled to stay clean. We MET at a rehab!!! So this is a life time thing. It's REAL! We knew each other's families. He knew my daughters and I knew Darlene Jamie and Summer. I'm going to miss him very much. R.I.P. jee. Say hi to mom. Love you

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to your family. I too lost a son at 39 of addiction and another trying to fight it now. We must never forget their true person inside. The kind loving son they really were. And now our sons suffering is over with, no longer in pain, and pure and healed in peace with the lord. MAY GOD BLESS YOU, as i was blessed with the priviledge to be my sons mother, thank you Lord.
