Joseph Magnano Obituary

MAGNANO, JOSEPH S. Joseph S. Magnano, 88, of Farm Hill Road, Middletown, formerly of Florida, husband of Joan (Lastrina) Magnano, died on Tuesday at the Apple Rehab Center. He was born on November 4, 1926 in Middletown and was the son of the late Rosario and Josephine (Scianna) Magnano. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy, after which, he graduated the New Haven Culinary School. He then worked for Pratt and Whitney, where he retired in 1988. He was also a member of St. Sebastian Church, Middletown. You could always find Joe riding his bike, watching football in his favorite recliner, or collecting golf balls in his back yard in his Florida home. But most of all, Joe loved spending time with his family and eating the most delicious food, prepared by his wife, Joan. Besides his loving wife, he leaves behind his loving family, his two sons, Robert Magnano and Rich Magnano, both of Middletown, two daughters, Diane Boothroyd of Georgia and Doreen Parise of Kensington, also one sister, Mary Ann Reid of Stratford, as well as 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother, Louis Magnano.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, August 19th at 7pm in St. Sebastian Church, Middletown. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association CT, Affiliate, Inc. 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

My deepest sympathy to Mom, Diane, Bob, Doreen and Richard and a sincere thank you for letting me be part of your family. I have many beautiful memories from the past 30 years memories that will last a lifetime. I know dad loved to ride his bike, which he did every day, and he sure did like good food as long as it was Italian food! When the family sat down to one of mom's delicious meals dad would lean back and smile and say, I wonder what the poor people are doing. I only hope he knew just how rich he was. Rest in peace dad.
