Josephine Barone Obituary

Barone, Josephine (Gugliemino)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Josephine "Josie" Marie (Gugliemino) Barone. On October 21, 2018, our mother passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, at home, with her daughters by her side. Although our hearts are broken, we know our mother's heart is filled with peace and joy, as she is finally, reunited with our father, the love of her life, husband Louis "Louie" F. Barone, who predeceased her 25 years ago.
Born April 16, 1940, in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore P. Gugliemino, and Sebastiana "Anna" (Salafia) Gugliemino. Our mother leaves us behind, her two daughters, Lisa (Barone) and husband Joseph Troy, Jr.; Kara (Barone), and husband Thomas Boller, Sr. Five grandchildren: Michael, Samantha and Matthew Troy. Thomas, Jr., and Christopher Boller. Also left to mourn her loss, our mother's oldest and dearest friend since 3rd grade, Lea Salafia and, newest and dearest friend, Joan Slauta. Many nieces and nephews, countless friends and her sister Marie Wrzos. She is predeceased by in-laws: Salvatore and Connie Barone, Phyllis and Frank Lentini, Mary and Tony Scirpo, Rose and Joe Carta, and Richard Wrzos.
Our mother was employed for over 35 years as a Publishing Assistant at Choice Magazine. Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She relished spending time with her grandchildren, two grand dogs Jake and Ginger, and her very large circle of friends. As a member of St. Sebastian's Church, she volunteered on several church committees. However, it was our mother's cooking that was legendary, especially her "sauce" and chicken cutlets.
As life on earth became more difficult, our mother continued to privately and bravely fight her battle. Displaying quiet courage and brave determination to endure and survive. We are so thankful for the incredible caring women who helped our mother along the way. Oncologist, Dr. Patricia Defusco who kept her breast cancer at bay for over 17 years. Visiting nurse, Donna Morton for her compassion and friendship. Caregiver, Luba Robbins for her great faith and guidance during our mother's final days.
Lastly, we wish to thank our mother, our greatest teacher, for the unconditional love that only a mother can give. Mom always said, "it was hardest to lose your mother" and as usual, Mom was right.
Mom, "You were loved every day, now you will be missed every day".
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. D'Angelo's Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. St. Sebastian's Church, Washington Street, Middletown.

I had the great good fortune to work with Josie her last few years at CHOICE before she retired, and will always remember her infectious laugh and good humor, and those infamous hot flashes! She was truly a special lady. My deepest condolences to her family.
