Lorraine Gowac Obituary
Lorraine Gowac, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 90.
Lorraine was the daughter of the late Henry and Emily Mojzis from Haddam. She was predeceased by her loving husband Edward T. Gowac Sr. Lorraine is survived by her three children, Edward Gowac Jr. and his wife Anne of Higganum, Laureen Downs of Middletown and Kathy Church and her husband Robert of Haddam. Lorraine also leaves behind seven grandchildren who called her Grammy and ten great-grandchildren who called her GG.
Loraine loved listening to music, especially music from the Big Band Era like Glen Miller, Harry James and Artie Shaw. Christmas was a very special time for Lorraine where she enjoyed making Christmas cookies for everyone. This tradition started years ago with her cousin Carol and has since been passed on to her daughters and granddaughters. It was not unusual to hear Christmas music playing at the house in September.
The family would like to thank the staff from Home Instead (especially Paula) for the love and care they gave to Lorraine. We also want to thank the wonderful nurses from Middlesex Hospice (Middletown) as well as all the family and friends that visited her when she was no longer at home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her honor to St. Vincent de Paul in Middletown or St. Jude's Children Hospital, her favorite charities.
Funeral Liturgy service will be held on Thursday January 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Higganum. Calling hours will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. To share memories or express condolences online, please visit www.biegafuneralhome.com.

Lorraine was such a huge part of my life growing up. Her mother Emily and my grandmother Rose were the best of friends. Lorraine and my mother Charlotte were also the best of friends growing up. And so were Laureen and I the best of friends! 3 generations of friendship is something very special.
Lorraine was very religious, and I remember her teaching me "Hail Mary, full of grace..." when we lost power for about 5 days when I was in high school.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
