Matthew Serra Obituary
Matthew Serra, 39, of Manchester, formerly of Portland, beloved husband of Kristin Serra, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
Matthew was born August 4, 1981, in Meriden, Connecticut, son of Gerald and Gladys (Cruz) Serra. He was a resident of Portland, Connecticut for many years before moving to Manchester to start his life with his soul mate in 2013.
Matthew was a graduate of Vinyl Tech where he excelled in automotive studies.
He was formerly employed with Electro Methods, Inc. and found his second home at Portland Napa with Karl where he worked for many years.
The simplest pleasures in life brought Matthew great joy; fixing cars, spending time outdoors riding his quads, going on fishing trips, spending time with family, and scuba diving. Prior to meeting his wife, he created lifelong bonds with friends who lovingly referred to him as "MattSerra." In recent years, he most enjoyed travelling and finding adventure with his wife, catching sunsets, and being near the ocean. Making moments into memories was important to him.
Of all the titles that Matthew held, one of his favorites was "Uncle Matt" to his eight nephews and four nieces as well as his goddaughter. Spending time with them and watching them grow up brought him great happiness.
Matthew will be remembered by his smile, his mischievous sense of humor, contagious laughter, witty comebacks, and his unconditional kindness to those he held close to his heart. Matthew was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he is survived by his brother Leo Rosado and his wife Krista of Portland, CT and three sisters, Ashley Perruccio and her husband Jordan of Cromwell, CT, Stephanie Serra and her boyfriend David Archer of Truckee, CA, and Jayde Margison and her husband Greg of Middletown, CT, his nieces and nephews and his closest friends who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Funeral services will be private. The Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., Portland is in charge of arrangements.
