Milton Johnson Obituary

Milton Johnson
On Friday, September 9, Milton Floyd Johnson passed peacefully at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, VT in the company of those he loved the most. The youngest of his family, he was born November 8, 1935 in Middletown, CT to Charles and Alpha Hayes Johnson. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School (Class of '53) where he met his wife, Jacqueline Woollacott. He later attended Devry University where he studied electronics. Milt and Jackie were married in July 1955 and soon welcomed two boys to their little family.
Milt spent much of his life working in electronic engineering and then graphic design, a career both his son and granddaughter later pursued. His genius for engineering and penchant for fiddling led him down many paths. He was an avid HAM radio operator. He first obtained his Amatuer Radio License and call sign, W1EGS, in 1952 and remained an active member of the community his entire life. Milt built two homes from the ground up; one in Durham where he and Jackie raised their boys, and one in Killingworth where they enjoyed much of their retirement together. He enjoyed being outdoors; biking, and later, kayaking were among his favorite fresh air activities. He also had a love for photography, spending much of his time capturing the world and people around him on film. Most of all Milt enjoyed spending time with his family.
Milt is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jacqueline Johnson; their two sons Gary Johnson and companion Jelani-Dia Mayes, and Richard Johnson; grandchildren, Ashley Nelms and husband Ian, Nicholas Johnson, Lindsay Johnson, and Carrie Rose Johnson; great-grandson Ayrton Johnson; and sister Claire Dolce. He was predeceased by his siblings Norm Johnson, Everett Johnson, Bessie Christianson, Harold Johnson, and Alpha Sambor.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to Jackie at 191 D Weslang Rd, Morrisville, VT 05661.
