Neil Cannata Obituary

Neil Emanuel Cannata
Neil Emanuel Cannata, 54, of Middletown, Connecticut died peacefully at home on September 28, 2021. Born in Middletown on April 30, 1967, Neil was the son of the late Nancy (Coco) and Emanuel Cannata. A graduate of Xavier High School, Neil continued his education at Greater New Haven State Technical College, and began a career in trucking after attending the New England Tractor Trailer Training School. He was employed by several different trucking companies with positions ranging from long hauling to local and regional deliveries. His most recent employment was with Ansonia based Coastal Carriers of Connecticut. Neil enjoyed participating in a wide social circle and especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Neil was a classic car and Harley motorcycle enthusiast, and he took great pleasure in maintaining and driving his prized possession, a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, for the past 34 years. He also enjoyed music and was a percussionist in local bands for many years. Neil is survived by his sister, Attorney Linda Jean Latimer, her husband, G. Thomas Latimer, and nieces, Leah and Lauren Latimer, of Middletown, Connecticut. Neil is also survived by his uncle, Deacon Nicholas Cannata and his wife Bianca of Portland, Connecticut, his aunt Grace Alakel and her husband George of Salem, New Hampshire as well as many cousins. Relatives and friends may call at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown on Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I've known Neil for many years. He would always talk about his neices, since I have 3 girls similar to their age,
and we would have long conversations of our garden experiences and what we planted and how they were doing. He always would brag about how his Dad had such beautiful gardens. I knew Neil before he moved away and then when he came back to take care of his mom. He would talk so highly of his mom and also of you, his sister. Your mom was a sweet lady who I had the pleasure meeting briefly but felt like I knew her from all Neil's stories.
I will always remember his laugh and how we both loved Angelo's market and would always share stories of what we brought there.
I am so sorry for your families lost. Neil was a great guy and will be missed very much.
