The passing of a kind soul. I will always be grateful for Mr. Budryk seeing something in me that I didn´t see in myself. It is because of him and the Harvard Upward Bound program, that I was able to see the possibilities in life, attend college, and I passed that same feeling of encouragement to our own children. They have all been successful; continuing Mr. Budryk´s legacy of educational excellence, achievement and enjoyment of life. Thank you...God Bless you and Rest In Peace

To Jennifer,Robin,Doug and all of the generations of girls ,boys, parents ,staffs ,administrators of Wesleyan University Upward Bound Concap Program(and friends and supporters of the nationally acclaimed program) Peter Budryk on a citation given to me for excellence in teaching wrote- a teacher affects eternity: He can never know where his influence ends: Peters influence made it to The White House , when Miquel Cardona was named by President Joe Biden The Secretary of Education for The United States of America. Secretary Cardona 's wife Marissa Perez was an Upward Bound Student from Meriden Both Miquel and Marissa were students in separate summer programs hosted by Wesleyan. Marissa would later become Miss Connecticut and Miguel would become Superintendent of Schools for The State of Connecticut . They are the parents of two successful children in the Meriden School System . Bien hecho Peter_ very well done We will meet one day in Fiddlers Green _where the grub is good, the bunks are clean, the beer is free and where is no limit to the fish you can catch

Peter ran nis life lane exceptionally well and helped disadvantaged youth to succeed. Upward Bound was that difference between poverty or thriving .We testify that your vision, passion and sacrifice will always live on and never be forgotten. Thankful for both Wesleyan Upward Bound and your faithful dedicated contribution to our lives and humanity!

Wow. That hurts. Mr. Budryk has long been my why. He believed in me long before I did. What a tremendous loss. To his kids, thank you for sharing him. He made a lot of poor kids feel wealthy in mind, body and spirit.

Robin, Doug, Jennifer and the entire Budryk family - my sincere condolences on Peter's passing. Peter and the entire family were fixtures to our family growing up on Pine/Poinsettia Street. Peter was a regular conversant with me during my many years as an outdoor Maine Guide and LL Bean employee. May the sorrow turn to tears of joy, recalling the good memories and times with Peter. -David Mazzotta & Marjorie Mazzotta (mom)

Peter cultivated my love of education and educational opportunity. His impact on my life as a UB´er and as an administrator in the program is treasured. He positively impacted students, teachers and our community as a whole- the Peter force! May you all be comforted by memories shared - God bless

Jake and I (longtime neighbors at 285 Harvard Street in Cambridge) are very sorry to hear the sad news. We still miss Peter (and Elinor), who did so much to make this old brick apartment building a warm home, and happily for me helped to leave it more handicapped accessible than they found it. What good and useful lives they lived! And Peter's stories about growing up in East Cambridge were great. We are thinking of you all. (Wonderful photo and writeup.) I was upset last year when our holiday card/letter--inadvertently addressed to the defunct Cape p.o. box--was returned. (I do hope I resent it to the correct new address but I'm not sure now.) We certainly hoped to be able to catch up with Peter in person again at some point. Unfortunately, I had a stroke in March and though I'm doing OK in PT I still need a walker or wheelchair, and I had to surrender my driver's license to get a handicapped hang tag. With only one driver, who sometimes gets sleepy, we haven't been venturing far from Cambridge, and relatives from Washington are visiting next weekend.
Our deepest sympathy, and all good wishes to all the family

My condolences to your family at this time. Peter was a wonderful man, and without the work he did for Upward Bound I would not be where I am today. I am so thankful for that! May your memories of Peter carry you through this difficult time.

Dear Doug, Jennifer, Robin and families, Patrick and I are saddened to hear of the loss of your father. Patrick enjoyed his time teaching with him at Upward Bound. Your father certainly affected many lives in a positive way. May you all find comfort knowing he and your mom are together. I'm sure he will be with you when you go fishing!
Sincerely, Melinda (Cotter) and Patrick Shugrue
