Robert Bialy
February 2, 1937 - October 6, 2025
Robert C. (Bob) Bialy, 88, passed away October 6, 2025. Bob was born in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Stanley V. Bialy and Estell (Rogorzenski). He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Bialy, Jr.
Bob grew up in Newington, CT, marrying Jean Belliveau, and calling Newington home for 45 years. Bob then moved to Middletown after marrying Elizabeth (Betty) Brock (who predeceased him) and resided there for 35 years, albeit wintering in Port St Lucie, Florida, for the last 21 of those years. Bob's most recent 8 years were spent year-round in Port St Lucie.
Bob's life story would be incomplete without mention of a discussion that would motivate him for the rest of his life. During his senior year in high school, a school advisor told him that he was not "college material". He told this story with no animosity, just sheer determination; he combined this drive with his dedication to hard work, his gratitude and humility, his leadership skills and his common-sense approach to work's challenges. And so, he started his career at Hartford Gas Company in the street department; he rose through the ranks serving as stockroom manager, customer service manager (amongst numerous other positions), which ultimately led to his selection as Director of Marketing and Sales for what had then become Connecticut Natural Gas.
Connecticut Natural Gas' commitment to community provided Bob the opportunity to serve as President of the Hartford Community Health Center, thereby helping in its establishment, Vice Chairman of the Greater Hartford Arts Council annual Fund Drive, Team Member of the National Panel of Consumer Arbitration for the Better Business Bureau, Team Member of the National Defense Executive Reserve and as Chairman of the American Gas Association Consumer Activities Committee.
Bob was also a talented athlete, serving as captain of the Newington High School Soccer and Baseball Teams. Post high school, he was invited to a regional summer tryout with the Boston Red Sox; he later shared those skills serving as president of the Newington Little League. Bob was also an avid golfer, especially during retirement, which he referred to as his "second career".
And most important to Bob was his family. He leaves a son, Bruce, and his wife, Cindy (Stack), a daughter, Kim, and her husband, Dave Nadeau, and a son, Craig, and his wife, Kathy (Russo). He also leaves eight grandchildren: Chris Nadeau and his wife, Becky (Crocker), Michael Nadeau and his partner, Marissa Rocks, Kellie (Nadeau) Insalaco and her husband, Ronnie, Kristin Bialy and her fiancé, Rich Alan, Kevin Bialy and his wife, Amber (Harper), Matthew Bialy, Rob Bialy and Katie Bialy. He also leaves eight great-grandchildren: Nora Nadeau, Bennett Nadeau, Tyler Nadeau, Hayden Insalaco, Brooke Insalaco, Morgan Insalaco, Kamryn Insalaco and Ruby Bialy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob's family on Wednesday, October 15th, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. He will be laid to rest in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
