Suzy Mongeon Obituary

Suzy Mongeon
Suzy Mongeon passed away on May 30 after a challenging illness. Born in Newton, Massachusetts, to Dick and Flo Mongeon, she was raised in Florida then resettled in Connecticut years later. Suzy will be remembered for her love and compassionate care of many cats and dogs that she rescued. She loved nature and took pride in her garden of flowers, vegetables and herbs at her antique house in Higganum. Most days included walks along the Connecticut River with friends and many dogs that followed Suzy and her always present bag of doggie treats.
Suzy is survived by sisters Linda and Sandra, niece Joanna Finkle-Murray and her beloved dog Lee Looney.
Full obituary and details for a celebration of her life can be found on Legacy.com. RSVP is requested for the gathering on Wednesday, June 18, at Haddam Meadows State Park in Higganum.

In 2003, I was called by a friend of mine in Yankee Chihuahua rescue. There was a little dog in Durham, who had been saved from abandonment ata gas station in Meriden by a nice lady who brought the dog to her home. Would I help direct the rescuer to the home? Of course.

As I´m sure you can guess,Suzy was the nice lady. And the rescued Chihuahua became my beloved Bella. Bella and I were friends for 13 years until she passed in 2016. During that entire time, Suzy and I would exchange notes about Bella and update each other on our lives.

She was always so loving and kind. I´m so grateful to her and will be forever.

My deepest sympathy to her family, her friends, and all those who knew her

We are so sorry to hear of Suzy's passing. So young. Kind person. I'm sure that she had that tee shirt or bumper sticker, "Sorry I'm late, but I met a dog." Great family.

Suzy and I met when Time Out Tavern burned down. My husband Jim of 44 years had just passed away. We met at Whites´s Farm where we walked our dogs, and waded in Allyn Brooke. We forged a close friendship over the years until Suzy passed away...she is embedded in my heart...Suzy always said when she died she wanted to go where all the dogs go. I hope
her wish has been granted...she loved all creatures great and small.

I´m sorry to hear of Suzy´s passing. I worked with Suzy many years ago with regards to mortgage financing. She was working at Time Out Tavern at the time. She was easy to speak to and I enjoyed our conversations. May she rest in peace.
