Timothy Cox Obituary

Timothy M. Cox
Timothy M. Cox, 60, of Durham, beloved husband of the late Rosanne Nurnberger Cox, passed away at his home on July 15, 2024. Born in Cameron, TX on April 5, 1964 to the late Melvin and Josephine Lewis Cox.
Tim grew up in rural Higganum, where he quickly developed a love for the outdoors. Two of his favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing, his passion for which would eventually be passed on to his children and grandchildren. A man of many skills and abilities, Tim had several careers, from working in the Department of Corrections as a CO, to home restoration for the 18th Century Company, and finally as a Custodian for the town of Madison, from which he would retire after 20 years of service. Along the way, he met, fell in love with and married Rosanne, with whom he built a home and raised their six children. He was known for his wisdom, integrity, fidelity, patriotism, hard work, and stalwart faith. A parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Tim devoted much of his time and energy to teaching catechism, serving on the Parish Council and coordinating social events to raise money for the church. It was at Notre Dame that Tim met his best friend, Jerry Bruckner. Together they both enjoyed outdoor activities, music, and football. Tim's unwavering devotion to his wife, Rosanne, was apparent to all who knew him, and he served his bride until her passing in 2021. Since then, Tim was frequently surrounded by his children and grandchildren, whose various athletic events brought him great joy. Dad (Papa), words cannot express how missed you are.
Tim will be lovingly remembered by his children and their families, Thomas and Katherine Brown, Erin Brown Hastings, Courtney and Keven Kilroy, Timothy and Shamika Cox, Matthew and Kimberly Cox, and Christian Cox and Lisa Weeks; his grandchildren, Elise, Madelyn, Elliott, Emerson, Logan, Noah, Ta'Miyah, Kacey, Camden, Aidan, Carter, Timothy, Levi, Ophelia, Kendal, Evelyn, Michael, Owen, Vincent, and Kelsey; brother, Dennis Cox; and sister, Linda Cox-Milavsky. Predeceased by his sisters, Donna Cummings and Brenda Derusso.
Friends are invited to visit with his family on Sunday evening, July 21st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. All are invited to go directly to Notre Dame Church, 272 Main St., Durham to celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Following Mass he will be laid to rest in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield.
