Christopher Swindell Obituary

Christopher W. Swindell lost his years long courageous battle to drug addiction on July 13, 2018 while living in a sober home with his house-mates in Portland, Maine. Living in Portland Chris was active in the rehabilit- ation community becoming a leading member and helping others in their recovery. He was employed at Coca Cola and enjoyed working in the Logistics and Distribution Department. Born on November 1, 1989 in Framingham and a lifelong resident of Milford, Christopher graduated from Milford High School in 2008 and went on to study Criminology for three years at Bridgewater State University. His intent was always to go back and complete his degree. Christopher leaves behind his mother Karen, father David, sister Jennifer and her fianc Michael Johnson and nephew Hunter, and brother Brian. Christopher also leaves his grandmother Nancy Fontaine and her partner Michael Graffeo of New Bedford and grandfather Walter Durant of Falmouth. Christopher is predeceased by his grandparents Joan and William Swindell. He leaves his aunt Donna Swindell- Peloquin and her husband Paul of Franklin, uncle Douglas Swindell of Worcester, aunt Susan Grant-Romaine and her husband Douglas of River- view, FL., uncle Scott Durant and his wife Essie of Fair- haven. He also leaves behind several cousins but was especially close to Nicole (Peloquin) Hutchinson, her hus- band Eric and their daughter Madeline of Auburn and James Staruk-Peloquin and his partner David Staruk-Peloquin of Millbury. Christophers passions were his family and soccer. Chris always looked forward to the yearly family vacation where he would spend quality time with his mother, father, sister Jenn, brother Brian and nephew Hunter. He especially liked coming home to visit and being met enthusiast- ically by Rocky the family dog. Chris always lit up the room during holidays and special occasions and was very close to his brother and sister. With an uncanny way of connecting with people, he made friends everywhere he went and often tried to help those in need, even if it was only with his big bear-hug. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his blue eyes. In addition, he had calm, gentle ways with children, especially with his nephew Hunter. His lifes objective was to play professional soccer in Europe. There was always a soccer ball within reach, no matter where he went. If he wasnt playing soccer in some form he was either watching or talking about it. He felt at home playing on the soccer field. Chris was the captain of his Milford High School soccer team, leading the team in goals his senior year in addition to being the schools leading points scorer. In addition to being voted his high school's team Most Valuable Player he was also voted onto the Mass. State All-Star team and was one of the leagues top leading goal scorers. His Mass. Premier League soccer team, Juventus, won the state title and went on to represent Massach- usetts in the National Championships. He also played soccer for several years at Bridgewater State University, starting as a freshman forward and again one of the league leading goal scorers. Unfortunately, a series of concussions cut into his career aspirations. Chris fought hard against his addiction and would push himself to seek help to try to overcome this disease. Every time he stumbled he would pick himself up and continue his fight. He actively sought out rehabilitation and was often a mentor for others who struggled against addiction. His family was extremely proud of him. He will be missed beyond comprehension. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 19, 2018 from 2-4 p.m and 6-8 p.m in the Buma Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Funeral services will be private. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chriss memory to Community Impact, 12 Main St. Milford, MA 01757. bumafuneralhome.com.
