Donald Fairbanks Obituary

Donald V. Fairbanks, 73, of Milford, where he has lived for 52 years, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of over 52 years to Rena A. (Mussulli) Fairbanks. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Vernon and Alice (Peirce) Fairbanks. Don was raised in Hopkinton and was a 1961 graduate of Hopkinton High School. He retired in 2010, after 34 years with the Waters Corporation in Milford, where he had worked as a systems analyst. He had also worked for Honeywell in Brighton and Framingham, and in his younger days had worked at the Draper Company in Hopedale. Don was an avid golfer and a member of the Waters Golf League, however, his passion was his wife and family. On any given day he and Rena would be found cheering on their grandchildren and their teams. Be it softball, lacrosse, basketball, cheering or dancing, he was their biggest and proudest fan. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was the go to handyman for his family, and could fix anything. He enjoyed family trips to Hampton Beach, Sturbridge, and Cape Cod and spending their anniversaries in North Conway. He was the loving father of Donald V. Fairbanks Jr. and his wife Jo-Ann of Milford, Ronda M. Ciocca and her husband Bill of Dennis, MA, Debbie A. Mitchell and Wayne T. Mitchell, of Milford, Dawna R. Oliva and her husband Nicky of Milford. He was the proud grandfather of Caroline Fairbanks, Angelina Oliva, Anthony Oliva, and Ella Mitchell. Brother in law of Marsha and Jimmy Marcello, Janice and Chuck Martino, Joe Hayes, and the late Marie Hayes. He was also the brother of the late Raymond Fairbanks and Eleanor Briere, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, on East Main Street, Milford. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening from 4 - 7PM. Please visit us www.consigliruggeriofuneralhome.com

Don was a grat man and will be remembered as a friend that we shared a coffee with at the coffee shops in Hopkinton and at his home. Lots of fun. God be with you Don!
