I still have the old fireman's hat Uncle Gordie gave me when I was a little kid. It has come in handy. When the state cop who lived next door to me would burn his barbecue, I'd show up on his deck wearing that hat asking if he needed me to put out the fire. I like to think that some of Uncle Gordie's humor hid in that hat, such that when I put it on some of his wonderful smart-Alecky entered my head and led me forward. RIP, Uncle GG . . .

Dear Doug and Bernie, I was saddened to read that your father passed. I got to know him over 25 years and he was a kind and outstanding gentle man. Please accept my sincere sympathies

To Doug and the Curtis family -- So sorry to learn of Gordon's passing. He and your mom and the Pickering family were life time neighbors and friends of ours in East Blackstone. Your mom was my baby sitter many, many years ago and we were all at their wedding. You can be proud of your dad. Good people all. May you find comfort in your memories and each other.
