Robert Burns Obituary

Robert Paul Burns (Biba), age 67 of Hopedale MA was welcomed into glory on October 18, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. Robert was the beloved son of Bernard and Angelina (Gild one) Burns. He leaves behind his caring wife of 32 years Amy (Taylor) Burns. He was the loving father and friend to Spenser Burns and Mason (Leighann) Burns of Hopedale. Bob was a 1969 graduate of Milford High School, 1973 graduate of Assumption College with degrees in Psychology and English and earned his master degree at Anna Maria College in Psychology and Counseling. He worked for the Department of Social Services for 38 years. Bob was also a local real estate investor, former Justice of the Peace and owned Christian Counseling Associates. Bob's greatest love was for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He had strong beliefs and would take the time to share the gospel without hesitation. He attended Mendon Community Church having served in many offices over the last 29 years. Bob was dedicated to pol- itics and served the Town of Hopedale in many ways, currently serving on the Board of Health and Water & Sewer Commission. He also served nine years as Selectman, was on the finance committee, and the original recycling committee. Bob was passionate in what he believed but always would take the time to listen to both sides and then make his decision. You may not always have agreed but you always knew where you stood. Bob met life with courage, wisdom and a sense of humor that left a lasting impression on all he met. If you had the privilege to kn- ow him a long time, or just a brief visit, your life was changed. At times he made us cry, made us mad, but most of the times, he made us laugh till we hurt. In addition to his wife and sons he also leaves a sister Andrea (Dennis) Stizza of Oceanside CA and a brother Bernard (Donna) Burns Jr. of Columbia TN, Aunt and Uncle Joseph and Lucille Ciarmicoli, brothers and sisters in-law Sharon Taylor, Denise Taylor, Heidi Sia, Mark Taylor, Jon Taylor, predeceased by Vincent Sia and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters in the Lord. Calling hours will be held at Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home 46 Water Street Milford, MA on Monday, October 29th from 5pm - 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church 25 Cross Street Whitinsville MA. Burial to follow at Hopedale Village Cemetery. Biba was someone who gave me inspiration. He never complained about his disabilities due to life long health issues. He helped me through though time with his encouraging talks. He was funny and a very happy guy. He loved his Amy and the kids. He was my hero. I loved his spirit and his political chats. I missed his services because I just got to Florida when I got the news. Well the only thing I know is he will work his magic with the big guy to get me in the big house when my day comes. Until that day Ill miss you big guy. Love eternal, Doc Coady.

Bob was a courageous young man who proved that life's obstacles are there only to overcome.

He was considered one of the beacons of the Department of Social Service.

I worked at DSS Regional Office and often visited the Whitinsville Office. Always asked Biba how the family was doing. He was proud of his two boys. He was an astute real estate developer, a great guy and I will miss him.

To Bubba's family and friends, I just want to express my sincere sympathy for the loss of our major example of human strength physical being. The man had everything, beyond his physical limitations that touched our inner beings. A giant that touched us all. He was witty, direct so cool. I am grateful to have walked behind his steps.

Biba was one of the kindest, purest souls I have had the privilege to have met on this earth.. Great sense of humor, dedicated husband and father.
Truly spent his life with compassion and focus on all around him who were fortunate enough to have met him. Bob will be dearly missed and never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers to his awesome wife and boys.
