Gregory Dean Heimann

1958 - 2024

Gregory "Greg" Dean Heimann passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024 at the age of 66, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Throughout his health battles, Greg showed his courage in facing life challenges with strength and dignity.

Greg was born on April 3, 1958 in Spokane, Washington and graduated from Port Angeles High School. He served in the US Navy from 1977-1995 and was stationed in Connecticut, South Carolina, Washington, Hawaii, and California. Greg's commands included the USS Pargo SSN-650 (April 9, 1979-September 11, 1981), USS Queenfish SSN-651 (January 8, 1982-July 24, 1984) and USS Los Angeles SSN-688 (September 2, 1987-September 1-1990). He was an Auxiliary Equipment Technician for 15 years, an outside Machine Shop Journeyman for over 9 years and an instructor for 4 years. Greg was the Commander Submarine Forces Pacific Representative at Mare Island Naval Shipyard when he retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO).

Greg enjoyed traveling, RV and ATV adventures, boating, sports, NASCAR, track car racing, motorcycles and riding to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, woodworking, welding, spending time at the beach and being with family, friends, and his beloved dogs. Greg was a proud, patriotic Veteran and was always willing to lend a hand to friends, family, and anyone else he could help.

Greg is survived by his wife, Amy; sons Greg Jr., Jeremy, Joe, Mitch; his grandchildren Jayden, Maddi, Olivia, Abigail, Ella, Rhealee, Greyson, Destinie; siblings Kelly Muller, Mike Huscusson; mother Mary Lou Cannon and stepmom Shirley Hots. He was preceded in death by his father Jerry Heimann, brother Mitchell Heimann and best friend Steve Johnson.

The Funeral Service was held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on June 4, 2024.
