Scott Sporer Obituary

Scott Roman Sporer, age 60, passed away due to a heart attack Thursday February 29th, 2024 at his home in Onamia, Minnesota.

Scott was born in Evanston, Illinois on July 7, 1963 to Rosemarie (Kulig) Sporer and Douglas Sporer. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois as well as Backus, Minnesota, where he would later graduate high school. Growing up, he would spend summers working on his Grandpa's farm in Arcadia, Wisconsin. His mother owned the Sanborn Resort and Salty Dog, in which Scott would manage and work on throughout high school.

Scott entered the U.S. Air Force as a missiles facility specialist on November 24, 1981 in Minot, North Dakota. At the time, he completed his schooling as a mechanical HVAC technician. Scott would leave the Air Force in 1985 and move to Plymouth, Minnesota. He continued to be in the HVAC field for the remaining years of his life.

In 1990, Scott would meet his loving wife Denise. Together, they spent 33 years in their beautiful home in Rogers, Minnesota. On March 28th, 1992, Scott and Denise's first child Michael was born. Not much longer, Scott would marry Denise on June 12, 1993. On December 23, 1995, Scott would welcome his daughter Julia to the world.

He was very involved with his children's lives. He coached baseball and basketball for his son, and coached basketball and danced with his daughter. He loved spending time with his children, his grandchildren and his dogs.

Scott was very active with the Mille Lacs Drift Skippers ATV and Snowmobile club where he was the CEO. Scott was always looking for projects to do, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Scott loved spending time at his cabin. He shared many memories with friends and family there. It was Scott's place to get away and would later be where he would build his forever home with his wife Denise.

Scott is survived by his wife Denise, his son Michael (Stephanie Wade), his daughter Julia (Ian Hart), his grand children Aubrie and Paxton, his sister Jodi Dabill, his nieces and nephews, and everyone he treated as family. He preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his sister Jackie Sporer.

To celebrate Scott's amazing life, a memorial service will take place on March 11, 2024 at the Word of Peace Church in Rogers, Minnesota. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00am followed by service stating at 11:00am. Lunch will be provided after service. Service will be live streamed as well. To connect, go to wordofpeace.org/funeralstream.

Scott was a great guy, I mean a great guy ! Always friendly, happy and willing to help. He did a lot of my HVAC work and always fun to be around. Had a great sense of humor. He would always end our phone calls with " AND HAVE A NICE DAY ! " I will miss him very much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
