Janesvile, WI - It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of David "Dave" Allen Farnsworth-known lovingly to many as "Farns" or "Farny"-on July 7, 2025, at the age of 61, following an unexpected heart-related medical event.
Born February 19, 1964, in Janesville, Wisconsin, Dave spent his life rooted in the community he loved. A proud Parker High School alum, Dave was a gifted multi-sport athlete who carried that competitive passion with him through life-whether it was a softball game with his Scoreboard teammates, bowling a perfect 300 (four times!), or playing a round of golf with his sons or close friends.
But above all else, Dave was a family man. He was the most devoted and selfless husband, dad, grandfather, son, and brother. Dave worked tirelessly and without complaint to give his wife and sons everything they ever needed or wanted. There was no sacrifice too big. He showed up every time, with love, support, and a steady presence that made his family feel safe, grounded, and unconditionally loved.
Dave married the love of his life, Cheryl (Barlass) Farnsworth, and together they built a beautiful life over 32 years of marriage. They raised three sons, Tyler, Brandon, and Brady, who adored him more than words can ever express. He was a proud papa to five grandchildren who lit up his world.
Throughout his life, Dave poured himself into the things that mattered most: his family, his community, and the people lucky enough to know him. He volunteered his time coaching his sons in various sports in the Milton School District, especially football, and cheered louder than anyone on the sidelines. He was the guy everyone could count on. He was the friend who would drop everything for you. He was the neighbor who'd lend a hand. He was the dad who made every one of your friends feel like they had a second father in him.
He loved all things Wisconsin sports: the Packers were his greatest passion, but he was just as loyal to the Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks. Some of his favorite memories were trips and gatherings with family and friends, especially to Lambeau Field with his brother Steve, soaking in every moment with the people he cared about most.
Dave was employed at Seneca Foods, where he had worked for the past 15 years. But work was never how he defined himself. His identity was built around caring for those he loved, showing up when it mattered, and finding joy in simple things like helping take care of projects on the Breezy Knoll farm, a round of golf, a good game on TV, or a weekend with family.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons: Tyler, Brandon (Kalin), and Brady Farnsworth; his five grandchildren; his mother, Joyce Farnsworth; and his siblings: Steven (Lisa), Ruth, and Rhonda Farnsworth. Dave also shared a special bond with Walter and Joyce Marshall, who lovingly supported him throughout many years of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald "Jerry" Farnsworth, and brothers, Stanley and Michael Farnsworth.
Dave's absence leaves an impossible void in the lives of all who knew him. His memory will live on in every act of love, selflessness, and quiet strength passed down through his children, grandchildren, and all who called him family or friend.
To all who knew him-as a friend, coach, coworker, neighbor, or "Farns"-thank you for being part of his life. We hope you'll carry his memory forward by showing up for the people you love, just like he always did. That's how we'll keep his spirit alive-through kindness, loyalty, and love, shared freely and without hesitation, just like he lived.
He was our rock. He was our hero. He was our everything. May he rest in peace. We will love him forever.
