Car Vincent Hellige

1936 - 2025

Carl Vincent Hellige, 89, of Fort Madison, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1936 in Fort Madison to George and Anna Hoenig Hellige. He graduated from Catholic Central High School. He married Roberta Gittings and they later divorced. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Iowa Trappers Association, the National Trappers Association and was a six-time world champion coyote trapper in New Mexico. He loved to hunt, fish, trap, work and spend time with his grandchildren. He owned and operated his own residential electrical business, Carl's Electric, for more than 40 years.

Carl is survived by: Two sons: Greg (Dawn Fullhart) Hellige of Fort Madison, and John (Amy) Hellige of Fort Madison; three grandchildren: Matt (Annabelle) Hellige, Mary Hellige and Luke Hellige all of Fort Madison; several nieces and nephews; his companion: Carolyn McMillen of Fort Madison, and her children: Kevin, Keith and Kurt McMillen and a granddaughter: Cheyenne McMillen. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters: Evelyn Davis, Bernard, Robert, Raymond, Richard, Ralph Hellige and Dorothy Parrott.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. He will be cremated following the visitation. The memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Fort Madison.
