Douglas Limkeman Obituary

Douglas Kent Limkeman, 67, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 18, 2022, at his home in Long Beach, California.

He was born July 29, 1954, in Quincy, Illinois, to Dorthy Ann (nee Schrader) and Roger Frederick Limkeman.

He was raised on his family farm in Warsaw, Illinois, where he learned many skills that would serve him throughout his life. He worked together with his father and built Limkeman Pond, where many hours of fishing and water skiing were enjoyed by family and friends; and it is still visited by neighbors and friends who cast a line on balmy evenings throughout the summer.

Doug attended Western Illinois University and graduated in 1976 with a B.S. in agricultural engineering. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho and served as president of the Interfraternity Council. His first job with International Harvester took him north to the suburbs of Chicago where he lived for several years, meeting his wife Kristi in 1984. They were married Nov. 28, 1987, and, shortly after, were transferred for his work with Grefco, Inc. to Southern California. He was an active member of the Perlite Institute for many years as his career focus transitioned to industrial minerals and he became one of the founding principals of Idaho Minerals. His knowledge and expertise in raw materials and chemicals led him to H.M. Royal of California where he served as a technical sales representative for 18 years. He was active in TLARGI and served on the board for several years. With H. M. Royal he felt there was no greater organization to be a part of, and felt they were a true extension of family. One of his greatest joys was his involvement with the children's program at SeaCoast Grace, his family's place of worship, where he would greet the children as they arrived for Sunday School. Doug loved his heavenly father, family and friends with all of his big heart. He loved to laugh, travel, tinker in his garage and spend every minute he possibly could with Eric and Rachel. We all were blessed by him.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife Kristi; son Eric; daughter Rachel; his mother Dorthy; brother Darrell; niece Wendy and husband Trent, and their daughters Madeline and Lydia; his mother-in-law June Scott; and his brother-in-law Hugh Scott and wife Annamarie.

He was preceded in death by his father Roger; sister-in-law Sharon Limkeman; and father-in-law Dave Scott.

His body was donated to Science Care for medical research as per his request. A memorial service will be held in May.

What a shock, I'm sure it was a shock to Dorothy, Darrell, and his family. I'm positive he was a fun loving member of A.G.R. He was a happy person. Its nice to hear he was so involved with the children's program at his church. Our Deepest Sympathy, Don and Barb Kunz
