June Slusher Obituary
She was born, Oct. 2, 1951, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Marilyn Brown Bradshaw. Kay grew up in Farson and graduated from Hedrick High School with the class of 1969.
She was united in marriage with Dale McFadden. To this union two sons were born, Joel and Jason. Kay and Dale later divorced.
In the early 1980's Kay made the decision to further her education and enrolled at William Penn College (now William Penn University) she earned her teaching degree from William Penn in 1984. She taught language arts for the North Mahaska, Harmony, and Keokuk School districts. She retired from the Keokuk School District at the end of the 2018 school year.
On Aug. 7, 1999, she was united in marriage with James Slusher at the Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa. The two of them made their home in Keokuk.
Kay enjoyed reading and she loved to cook.
Her family includes her husband of over 26 years, James Slusher of Keokuk; son Jason McFadden of rural Cedar; two grandchildren, Hunter McFadden and Gracie Fleener; a stepson Brandon Slusher of Davenport; a brother Mark (Missy) Neff of Fremont; and a nephew Zac Neff.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; a son Joel McFadden; and two brothers, Chad Neff and Ralph Bradshaw Jr.
A graveside funeral service and burial will be on Monday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. in the Cedar Township Cemetery south of Fremont with the Rev. Larry Wallingford officiating. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family present will be held Monday, Nov. 10 in the Fremont Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. until 12:45 at which time a procession will form to go to the cemetery for the graveside ceremony.
Memorials may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.
