Kary Lynn Markey, 45, of Chicago, and formerly of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, in Chicago.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1979, in Burlington to Michael and Sherry Hupfer Markey.
Kary graduated from Dallas City High School in 1998 and Roosevelt University. Kary was an amazing executive chef and personal caterer. He created masterpieces for the major events and galas in Chicago, including working for the Obamas and the Food Network.
Kary was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed cooking, spending time at Lake Michigan and going on bike rides. Kary had an amazing personality and was loved by all that knew him. Most of all, he had a love and passion for Madonna that was never ending.
Survivors include his mom and stepdad, Sherry and Gary Milks of Fairfax, Iowa; two brothers, Dr. Michael (Dena) Markey of East Lansing, Michigan, and Ryan Markey of Wever; nieces and nephews, Ethan Markey, Caitlin Makey, Kayla Watts, Colton and Clayton Markey.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and his brother, Cory.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A family burial will be held in Gittings Cemetery, Henderson County, Illinois, at a later date.
