Norman Woods Obituary
He was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Ellsworth and Mary Wahl Woods. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1961. He attended Southeastern Community College and received his Associates of Arts and Science Degrees in nursing in 1984.
On May 2, 1987, Norm was united in marriage with Jayne Dye in Sandusky. She survives.
Together they raised two children, Michael (Ashley) Davidson, and Michelle (Kep) Keppel; five grandchildren, Draven, Levi and Veda Davidson, and Tanner and Kole Keppel.
Norm was previously married to Shirley (Fryer) Woods. They had three children, Shelley (Bill) Carr, Tim (Lonna) Woods and Todd (Terrie) Woods; six grandsons, Zachary (Andrea) and Layton (Sarah) Travis, Tyler (Kaitlyn) Woods, Austin (Peyton) Woods, Cory (Katie) Woods and Drake Woods; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Paul (Mary Alice) Woods.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Janet Heckard; and a step-grandson, Nathan Keppel.
Norman had been employed at Keokuk Area Hospital as a registered nurse for 18 years. He also worked as director of nursing at Eagles Summit for 11 years.
Norman enjoyed hunting for geodes, rocks and minerals and selling and trading his finds. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, jewelry making, and collecting eagle statues and pictures.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held Tuesday from 4–6 pm at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with the family meeting with friends at that time.
