Patricia Leanne Poggemiller

1946 - 2021

Patricia Leanne Poggemiller, 74, of Burlington, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.

Born April 18, 1946 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Thomas and Josephine "Jo" (Kulp) Gilman Sr. Her mother passed away at a young age and she was raised by her stepmother, Virginia Gilman.

Patricia married Denzil Poggemiller on Jan. 18, 1991. He died Sept. 30. 2001.

She worked in bookkeeping and payroll for many area businesses. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church.

Patricia was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan; she loved dogs and adopted many throughout the years. She enjoyed crafting and volunteering, was very friendly and loved helping people. She never knew a stranger.

Survivors include her three children, Karen (Scott) Grimes of West Burlington, Sharon Parker of Burlington, and Thomas (Sandy) Calhoun of Braidwood, Ill.; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four brothers, Keith Gilman of Fort Madison, Dan Gilman of Robertsville, Mo.,, Steve Gilman of Montrose, and Frank Leiniger of Donnellson; one aunt ,Audrey Tapke of West Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one brother, Thomas Gilman Jr.; one sister, Linda Walters; and three grandchildren, Tommy, Sara and Jessica.

The memorial funeral service for Patricia will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Oak Street Baptist Church. Pastor Ralph Wingate will officiate. Inunment will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
