Paul Engelmeyer, 82, of Keokuk, formerly of Quincy, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at his home in Keokuk.
Paul was born Nov. 23, 1939, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Joseph B. and Frances (Schroeder) Engelmeyer.
He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1957 and graduated from Quincy College in 1961 with a chemistry degree.
In October of 1961, he was united in marriage with Nancy Stupasky in Quincy. She preceded him in death on June 11, 1983. In 1984, he was united in marriage with Bonny McNaught, they were later divorced.
Paul was employed at Hubingers for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and loved boating and golfing. He taught many people how to water ski and made many pieces of crafts and woodworking to sell. Nancy was the love of his life, and on his first date he couldn't wait to kiss her before they pulled out of the driveway.
Paul is survived by five daughters, Theresa (Chuck) Kindig of Brooklet, Georgia, Julie Lefler of Keokuk, Cheryl Wells of Keokuk, Nanette (Monte) Beckinger of Newburgh, Indiana, and Karyn (Jake) Kramer of Keokuk; nine grandchildren, John (Kara) Kindig, Amanda (Evan) Patrick, Joshua (Jessamine) Dockum, Jacob Wells, Jessa (Padyn) Wells, Trenton (Caity) Beckinger, Jennifer (Preston) Wells, Caleb and Hannah Kramer, Megan and Cory Gillenwater, and Lucas Ziegler; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister Jean McKinney of West Burlington; his brother-in-law Paul Stupasky; six sisters-in-law, Dorothy Klingle, Sally Giles, Anita Eberhardt, Bonnie Heming, Debbie Davis, and Irene Engelmeyer; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nancy; his granddaughter Hope Nancy Kramer; four siblings, Joseph Engelmeyer, James Engelmeyer, Arlene Futrell, and John Engelmeyer; and two sisters-in-law, Janet Faler and Mary Kientzle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Sandusky Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m., with family meeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk.
