Phyllis Frey Obituary

Phyllis Mary Frey, 85, of Fort Madison, and formerly of Niota, Ill., passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at The Madison.

She was born on May 29, 1937, in St. Paul, Iowa, to Al and Lucille Schulte Stuekerjuergen. She married James H. Frey on Jan. 3, 1959 in St. Paul. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2003.

She was a homemaker and caregiver and was also involved in pretty much everything in Niota. She was a member of Ss. Mary & Joseph Church in Fort Madison and also Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Nauvoo, IL. She enjoyed doing puzzles, canning, baking and teaching her grandchildren how to bake.

Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Lisa Eid of Fort Madison; three sons, Alan Frey of Niota, Ill., Keelen Frey of Niota, Ill. and Shawn (Susan) Frey of Douds; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Mary (Dick) Klesner of St. Paul.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son in law, Rory, and several brothers and sisters.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, in Oakland Cemetery, with Fr. Tony Trosley officiating.

A memorial has been established for Lee County Hospice or the Niota Fire Department. Online condolences may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
