Sharon Burek

1966 - 2025

Sharon (Moore) Burek, 59, of Winsted, Conn., formerly of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, peacefully at her home.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1966, in Mount Pleasant.

Sharon was the beloved wife of Michael Burek. She was the cherished daughter of Larry Moore and the late Mary Ellen Moore. She is also remembered by her brother Doug Moore and sister Jo Heitzman, in-laws Lisa and Angela Moore and Kim and Craig Buckland, Keith Heitzman, and all of her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She had a long loving friendship with Leslie and Mark Kurland and their three children.

Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Moore.

Throughout her life, Sharon found joy and creativity in her hobbies. She had a passion for cross-stitch and crochet, crafts that reflected her patience and attention to detail. Her handmade creations were treasured by those fortunate enough to receive them. As Sharon traveled and lived in numerous states in her retail career, her heart remained with her family and friends in Southeast Iowa.

Friends may call after noon, Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Sharon Presbyterian Church in rural Farmington with Pastor Katrina Bergman officiating.

Burial will be at the Sharon Cemetery, rural Farmington.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
