Sharon Beth Wainwright, 86, of East Moline, Illinois, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at New Perspective Senior Living, Silvis, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Gibson - Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Maria Cemetery, 10184 303rd St. N. Hillsdale, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or for an education fund to be established for her great-granddaughter.
Sharon was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Wapello, the daughter of Louie and Libby (Faris) Foor. She graduated from Wapello High School and then from Burlington Community College with a degree in education.
Sharon was married to Chesney Wainwright in 1961. From this union her two children, Mike and Beth were born. They were later divorced.
Sharon spent her entire teaching career at the Riverdale Elementary School in Port Byron. She cherished the years she team taught fifth grade with Mary Bernstrom.
Sharon retired from teaching in 1990. She found the perfect retirement job with Donut Delite in Moline, Illinois, which she enjoyed for many more years.
Sharon was an avid reader. She was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. She loved to travel and was known to enjoy the casinos and computer gambling. Sharon was an exceptional friend. She will be remembered by all who knew her for being stubborn and sassy.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth Wainwright, East Moline; grandson, Josh Wainwright; great-granddaughter, Zoey Wainwright; sisters, Kate (Don) Saar, Lake George, Colorado, Norma (Larry) Duncan, Burlington; God-daughter, Gena Knight; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike Wainwright; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Mick (Delores), Moke (Shirley) and Terry (Pat) Foor. Share a memory or condolence at www.gibsonbodefh.com

I was a school nurse at Riverdale and have fond memories of Sharon . She always had a smile and loved teaching . She taught one of my sons too. May she rest in peace . My sympathy to the family ,
