Terry Eldon Garmoe, 49, of Burlington died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born March 11, 1976, in Monmouth, IL, he was the son of Mark Eugene and Deborah Lynn Remick Bowman. On Aug. 21, 1994, he married Alicia Dawn Byers at Crapo Park in Burlington.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1994.
Terry worked as a cable and broadband installer for 13 years. He also worked as a mechanic with his father at Bowman's Automotive.
Terry enjoyed playing golf, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and boating. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR and was a member of Abate 18 club. He was an excellent cook and had mastered the art of BBQ. He was a standup guy with a huge heart. He had a wonderful, deep voice that could soothe even the fussiest of babies.
He was an excellent storyteller and enjoyed talking to everyone. The most important thing to him was family. He was a wonderful husband. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and he held a special place in his heart for his dog, Thor.
Survivors include his father, Mark Eugene (Kelly) Bowman Sr. of Burlington; wife, Alicia Dawn Garmoe of Burlington; four daughters, Samantha (Deonte) Thompson of Davenport, Winter Garmoe of Las Vegas, NV, Sierra Garmoe and Kylie Garmoe, both of Burlington; son-in-law, Will Hill of Fort Madison; eight grandchildren, Michael, Selena, Hunter, Isabella, Jaxon, Logan, Luke, and Everly; three brothers, Mark (Jo) Bowman Jr. of Burlington, Clyde Farmer of Tipton, and Phillip Cox of Burlington; four step-brothers, Alan "Mikey" (Krystal) Stevenson, Jessie Stevenson both of Burlington, Jamie Stevenson of Carman, IL, and Drayton Stevenson Bowman of Burlington; many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandma, Pat; his mother, Deborah; daughter, Terry "Tara" Hill; step-brother, Joshua Stevenson; step-sister, Kelli Stevenson; and aunt, Dawn McDowell.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Terry will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Deacon Tim Robinson officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in Crapo Park following the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
