Dorothea Ann Berthoud, born on January 8, 1932, passed away on April 29, 2025, in West Plains, Missouri.
A devoted parent to Cheri Downs, Jeri Dias, Barbara Swart, Gordon Berthoud, and Helene Hipple, Dorothea leaves behind a profound legacy that includes more than 200 descendants, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Veryle Lee Berthoud, as well as multiple grandchildren.
Dorothea's life was marked by a deep commitment to both intellect and creativity. Her musical talents resonated throughout her life and brought joy to family members and friends alike. These gifts also enriched the spiritual life of her church community, where music served as a meaningful expression of faith and connection.
A passionate genealogist, Dorothea dedicated twelve years of service as a Family History Missionary in Salt Lake City, Utah. With care and devotion, she worked to preserve ancestral histories and connect generations through the threads of family heritage.
Those who knew Dorothea were touched by the warmth of her open heart and the generosity of her wisdom. She shared freely, offering knowledge, love, and music to all who crossed her path.
A funeral service will be held on May 17 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel in Philipsburg, Montana, a place Dorothea once called home. A Celebration of Life will also be held in West Plains, Missouri.
