Michael East Obituary

Michael Everett East, 76, was born in Rawlins, Wyoming where he loved hunting and fishing with his dad, and watching his beloved Yankees play ball. Through sheer perseverance and spirit, he overcame many obstacles to become a kind, holy, loyal and thoughtful man. When his doctor asked him how he had survived his fight with cancer so long, he replied, "Prayer, perseverance and the people I hang out with." After graduating from St. Joseph's military high school in Hays, Kansas, Mike had his own shoe repair business, attended barber school and was a baker. In 1996, he moved to Missoula where he met and married his love, Jane Tremper East 20 years ago. Together, they lived a life in service to others through Secular Franciscans, Knights of Columbus, East Missoula Lions Club, growing produce to donate to local food banks and visiting and helping friends who could not get out themselves. Mike loved his wife and family, playing cards with his friends, telling jokes, the outdoors and being in the Mall Walking Group. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his sister, Patsy Martin, and a multitude of cousins and friends who all loved him very much and will miss his special courage, humor and heart forever.

A mass will be held in his honor November 24, 2025 at Saint Anthony's Parish Life Center at 4 p.m. with a reception following. A memorial celebration of life will be held in May 2025 at East Missoula Lions Club Park. Donations in his honor may be made to Missoula Partners in Home Care Hospice or Saint Anthony's Parish.

I knew Michael and Jane when I was a housekeeper at the mall. What a great couple. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Donnette

Yesterday

Jane, we are so sorry to read of the death of your beloved husband. It was always a privilege to greet him (and you) at the door when dropping off meals in Fridays.
I know that Michael is fully alive in the Resurrection. Peace be with you.
