Nick Holden
On June 28, 2022 we said, "Fare thee well" to Nick Holden (48). Nick was born in Massachusetts and almost 30 years ago his heart led him to the mountains of Montana. While studying Natural Resource Conservation at the University of Montana, he met Sarah who was in all his classes. Sarah and Nick spent the last 23 years sharing their passion for music, travel and family together. Their daughters Lilli (15) and Maple (12) adore their dad. Nick's love for his girls was clear to anyone who saw them together. He instilled a love of nature in them, teaching them to ski, hunt and how to see and respect the land around them. Nick was a bright light in many peoples lives. His kindness and true grit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He spent 20 years operating his own business in the natural resource field, where he was greatly respected in the ecological community.
He is survived by his wife and daughters, his parents; Jonathan and Hannah Holden, and brother; Nate Holden. His in laws; Samuel and Linda Barackman, and brother in law; Adam Barackman. He leaves behind many friends who he deeply considered family. Coming home will never be the same.
July 23, 2022 we will gather at 11 am to celebrate Nick's life at Marshall Mountain (5250 Marshall Canyon Rd Missoula, MT 59802)
Please carpool and leave your pups at home!
Nick's friends have started a memorial fund for his daughters so they can continue adventuring as Nick would have wanted.

Dear Hannah and Jock,
We were so sad to learn of Nick´s passing. We still remember him as that cute, funny little guy across from us on Oak St. I remember the day he rang our doorbell, stopping in for a visit. He came in, accepted a snack and chatted for quite a while. Poor Hannah, you had no idea where he had disappeared to! Later on, when we had our own kids, I could finally understand your worry. At the time, I was so taken with his incredible conversational skills (he couldn´t have been more that 3 or 4 years old!
Our sympathies to both of you, Nate and all of Nick´s family. It sounds like he had made a wonderful life in Montana. Please take care.
