Jimmy Cox Obituary

SPRUCE PINE - Jimmy Melbourne Cox, 85, of Spruce Pine passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Valdese.
Jimmy was born on April 11, 1939, in Mitchell County to the late Jim Cox and Gladys Hollifield Cox. He spent his entire adult life as a dedicated long-haul truck driver, which allowed him to explore 46 of the 48 continental states, but he always cherished returning to his home in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. Jimmy was a devoted member of Freedom Baptist Church, where he found great solace and community. His love for the outdoors was evident through his favorite hobby, camping, which he enjoyed with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Cox, and an infant grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Sparks Cox; his children, Eddie Cox, Kimberly Gardner Holliday, and Greg Gardner and his wife Debi. Jimmy was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate his life was held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
Jimmy's life was marked by his love for his family, his passion for travel, and his unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
