Justin Kotrba Obituary

Justin Kotrba, 50, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, in Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday, June 6, from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a 6:30 PM prayer service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell at a later date. Justin Tobin Kotrba was born on July 8, 1974, to Joseph and Bonny (Reinartz) Kotrba in Mitchell, South Dakota. Justin was raised in Mitchell, and spent much of his childhood at his grandparents' farm west of town. During high school, he played football and wrestled. He worked at Shopko during his high school years, and helped his dad and brothers cut trees for Kotrba Tree Service. Justin graduated from Mitchell Senior High School in 1994. After high school, he worked at Twin City Fans, Cabela's, and Enertech. Justin loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. He loved hunting and fishing. Before his untimely passing, he was teaching his nephews, Charlie and Jaxson, proper fishing techniques. Justin is survived by his daughter, Caitlyn (Chandler) DeWit; siblings, Michele (Scott) Rumbolz, Sierra (Joey) Bunker, Jenny Kotrba, Kelly Reinartz, and Waco Kotrba; grandchildren, Kinsley, Bristol, and Ezra; nephews, Jed, Westin, Eli, Charlie, and Jaxson; niece, Abigail; and cousins, Carrie Tucek, Chris (Bobbi) Reinartz and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and best friend, John Patrick Kotrba; his grandparents; and good friend, Melvin Stunes. Justin was a big guy with an even bigger heart. He was the life of the party everywhere he went. It's not goodbye, it's see you later big guy in the Sky. "We will always talk about you. You deserve to be remembered."
