Wilbert Roth Obituary

Wilbert Roth, 89, of Mitchell, SD, passed peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. All are welcome to a visitation for Wilbert at Bittner Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 26 from 5-7:00 PM, with scripture reading at 6:30 PM. Wilbert J. Roth was born on December 17, 1935, in Parkston, SD. He was a loving husband to Marilyn since 1958, a devoted father to Debra and Karen, and an adoring grandfather to Madeline and Maya. During retirement, Wilbert and Marilyn enjoyed wintertime trips to Arizona and visiting daughter Debra and Al and other family in California; and camping trips to the Black Hills and relaxing at the family cabin on the Missouri River in summer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his earlier years. But his greatest joy was seeing his granddaughters grow up. He was incredibly proud of both of them. Wilbert is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Mitchell; daughters, Debra Roth (Alan Fontes) of Chattanooga, TN and Karen Roth of Sioux Falls; granddaughters, Madeline Roth of Alexandria, MN, and Maya Roth a U.S. Marine at Naval Air Station, Lemoore, CA; siblings, Maxine Wudel and Cletus (Janice) Roth of Lodi, CA, Geraldine (James) Hunt of Mitchell, SD, Connie (Jerry) Schroeder of Sioux Falls, SD, Eldon Roth of Dakota Dunes, SD; and Denis (Donna) Roth of San Ramon, CA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Francis, and his infant brother, Loren.
