Michael Epperson Obituary

Michael Sherman Epperson

In Loving Memory

Michael Sherman Epperson, age 83, passed through the veil on December 18, 2023 in his home in Lewisville, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife NanEtte Stocks Epperson, his father Victor Allen Rideout, mother Louise Epperson, step-father Max D. Epperson, brothers Kim Epperson, Victor A. Rideout Jr., and sister Kaly Jo Rideout Turnbaugh.

Mike is survived by his beautiful and amazing children Anese Cavanagh, Aimee Liegh, Mandy Bryant (Nick), Melissa Liles (Whit) (daughters of Edwina Epperson), Amber Epperson-Ramirez (Zack), and son Austin Epperson (Shy). He is the proud grandfather of 11 brilliant grandchildren.

Also surviving Mike are his adoring siblings, Tony (Linda, deceased), Lani Nisbet (Rob), Dan (Susan), and Janet (wife of Kim).

Mike received an Engineering degree and worked in computer technology, the mortgage industry, and real estate before receiving a PhD in his real passion as Mr. Mom. Here he used his knowledge of science, math, solving technical problems, logistics efficiency and productivity, systems improvement, and How to Make Every Day an Adventure.

He loved fishing, the mountains, and working on projects, cars, houses, and people. To Mike, everyone was a friend who had a story worth listening to and marveling at, who needed a kind word to encourage and lift, and a funny story to laugh at. Mike's humor and his commitment to finding solutions and silver linings to every challenge was contagious. He had an adventurous soul and was determined to make every experience interesting and fun, and the sillier the better.

Throughout his life Michael touched lives. He was passionate about everything he did and fiercely loyal to what he thought was right. His love for, and reliance on Heavenly Father guided him daily. His heart was pure and his goal was always to do his best, and to receive grace when he was lacking. Love is life's great connector. Mike gave love freely. Some people come into our lives and go quickly. Some leave their signatures on our hearts, and we are never the same.

In high school Michael wrote: "I am thankful that I have a testimony of the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This has been a guiding light in my life and I have been blessed exceedingly through my beliefs. I know that I must have faith in myself if I am to have faith in my fellow human beings. In this way I can respect others as well as myself, respect them for what they are and what they may become. I desire to be of service to my fellow man and live by the Golden Rule.

I have seen yesterday, I love today, and I am looking forward to tomorrow."
