Bill Walter Obituary

William "Bill" H. Walter, 68, of Higbee, MO passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Bill was born August 3, 1951 in Clarence, MO to Herbert Washington Walter and Marie Cecilia Bange.

Bill married Ina "Louise" Walter on May 31, 1969 at Immaculate Conception Church in Macon, MO; and the couple moved to the Higbee area in April of 1984. Bill was a graduate of South Shelby High School and a member of St. Pius X Church. He was a factory worker for A. B. Chance for six years, as well as a farm hand for a neighbor the six years following. In 1984, Bill and Louise bought a station in Higbee; he became a service station owner, car crusher, salvage yard owner and an all over jack of all trades.

In his free time, which wasn't too common as even on his time off, Bill enjoyed going to work; he liked motorsports especially drag racing and truck pulling. He even found the time to build his wife a pool. If someone said something couldn't be done, Bill Walter would just prove them wrong. He was a proud supporter of the Higbee FFA and he will always be remembered for his love of kids, his happy go lucky attitude, his fondness for teasing his wife and his unconditional love for his family. Bill was hard headed, but he always had a big heart. He was a great man who will be missed by all who knew him.

Bill Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marie; brother, Charles Walter and sisters, Mary Walter, Leta Purdy and Viann Traver.

Survivors include his wife, Louise of Higbee; children, Michael William Walter and Christina Louise (Larry Wayne) Nauerth, both of Higbee; grandchildren, William Garrett (Raina Jones) Nauerth, Bailey Scott (Maddy Holt) Nauerth, Tanner Lee (Sabrina Huddleston) Walter and Brett Michael Nauerth, all of Higbee; siblings, Mildred Walter of Moberly, Jim (Marilyn) Walter of Clarence, Gary Walter of Cairo, Donna Walter of Moberly, Harold (Elizabeth) Walter of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Connie Walter of Jacksonville; brother-in-law, Orville Purdy of Madison; extended family, many close friends and cat, Fluffy.

Services celebrating Bill's life will be held Friday, March 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Higbee City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are appreciated to American Cancer Society, 2409 Hyde Park Rd., Jefferson City, MO 65109 or to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
