JoAnn McCarty Pratt

JoAnn McCarty Pratt, 64, passed away at her home in Semmes on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. JoAnn was born in Waynesboro, MS on May 16, 1953 to Joe R. McCarty and Edna "Billie" Stabler McCarty. After spending her childhood in Mobile, JoAnn moved with her family to Clara, MS. She attended Clara High School, where she was a cheerleader, on the basketball team, and was named Miss Clara High School. JoAnn attended the University of Southern Mississippi, and then moved back to Mobile where she worked for Business Cards Tomorrow for thirty years. JoAnn was a devoted mother, a loving sister, and a dedicated worker. She enjoyed softball, bowling, and reading. She ferociously fought a ten year battle with cancer. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Billie McCarty; and one nephew, Ryan Singleton. She is survived by her son, Douglas Pratt; sisters, Elizabeth "Bug" Singleton, Teresa Meyers, Donna Jones, and Renee Sumrall; two nieces; five nephews; and other cherished family and friends. A memorial service will be held for JoAnn on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. "Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal."
