A.A. CARDOZO, JR. "MICKEY" NOV. 14, 1936 - MAY 18, 2004
Mickey Cardozo passed away Tuesday afternoon; Modesto born and raised, Mr. Cardozo established many first in this great city of Water-Wealth-Contentment-Health. He was Student Body President for Downey High School's graduating class of 1954. Four years later, he graduated from Stanford University. After completing three years at Hastings School of Law, he joined his father, Anthony Albert Tony Cardozo, in 1962 and practiced law for 42 years in Modesto.
Mickey Cardozo's love of sports motivated him to creative heights. As a teenager, he announced Modesto Reds baseball games in the early 50's, as well as announcing Stanford home football games during his university days. Mr. Cardozo overcame physical limitations by playing golf and softball. He was president of Del Rio Country Club in 1976 where he won the Invitational. He was the founder and owner of Rainbow Fields, which opened in 1979, providing a first-rate field of dreams and a four-diamond complex where he could request a courtesy runner after he made a base hit. Not only an avid professional sports fan, he enjoyed attending local high school and college sports activities. His greatest creative interests resided with his family members, truly the gems of his prosperity.
He was predeceased by his father, A.A. Tony Cardozo, Sr. and sister, Juline Schmitz.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Cardozo of Modesto; children, Vicki Ollson of Modesto, Becky Giffen of Hughson, Cyndi Honnette of Gold River and Chris Cardozo, who is studying abroad in Austria. He is also survived by his mother, Pauline Cardozo and his brother Rick Cardozo; also by his grandchildren; Patrick, Jacob, Nicholas and Spencer Giffen; Jordan, Taylor and Brooke Honnette; and Matthew and Timothy Ollson.
A Memorial Service will be held at Franklin & Downs, McHenry Chapel, Wednesday, May 26 at 4:00. Remembrances may be made to: The Juline Foundation for Children, P.O. Box 577661, Modesto 95357.

I am Becky's husband Casey's cousin. My father Everett and Casey's mother Carolyn were sister and brother. I did not know Mickey as well as I would have wished but I do remember him from their wedding as a wonderful host with a winning smile and quick wit. I remember many conversations with Aunt Carolyn about her many visits to Modesto with Casey and Becky and the Cardozo's. She always raved about her times together and the many kindnesses shown her.

You and your family are in our prayers and we offer our condolances to you from our family.
