Auburn, California - Barbara Phillips, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and dedicated teacher, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Auburn, California, at the age of 90.

Born on December 16, 1934; in San Francisco, Barbara was raised with four siblings and graduated from Balboa High School in 1952. It was there she met the love of her life, Gary Phillips. They married soon after and made their home in Modesto, California, where they lived for 60 years and raised their family.

Barbara earned her degree from Stanislaus State University in 1973 and spent 25 years as a kindergarten teacher at Sherwood and Sylvan Elementary Schools in Modesto. She was beloved by her students and colleagues.

Barbara enjoyed playing tennis for many years at the Modesto Racquet Club, where she developed lasting friendships. She loved to cook and bake, and her home was the heart of family gatherings for holidays, birthdays, and vacations. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her loved ones. Her warmth, kindness, and loving nature left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her two children, Paul Phillips (wife Molly Phillips), and Carolyn Kolodin; five grandchildren, Eileen Phillips, Sarah Phillips, Catherine Kolodin (husband Michael Tong), Michaela Kolodin, and Brian Kolodin (wife Paige Kolodin), and her great-granddaughter, Emma Ray Tong.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Phillips; her daughter, Maureen Phillips, and her son-in-law, Richard Kolodin.

Barbara will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery.

Her family will forever remember her for the love she gave so freely, her joyful presence, and the strength and grace with which she lived her life.
