Bette Lucille Smithcamp
August 2, 1927 - February 19, 2021
Santa Cruz, California - Bette Lucille Smithcamp, 93, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Bette was born and raised in Modesto, and was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Smithcamp, and daughter, Linda Smithcamp. Bette is survived by her daughter Susan Smithcamp-Cox, and her husband Tracy Cox of Turlock, daughter Sharen Smithcamp, and her wife Ronnette Smithcamp, daughter Lisa Hall, and her husband Jeff Hall, all of Santa Cruz. She is also survived by granddaughters Doriane Desfaugeres of Los Angeles, and Caitlin Cox of Turlock. Bette thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid tennis player, and loved traveling around the world. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Modesto, and served for many years as a volunteer at Memorial Medical Center, in Modesto. Bette had a larger-than-life personality, and will be missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her class, warmth, wit, and strength she always displayed. A private interment will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, the family is planning to have a celebration of Bette's life at a date and location not yet determined. She was a special sister-in-law, who welcomed me into her family by baking a wedding cake for her brother and me. She was a wonderful lady whom I loved. She will be missed .

I remember the proud look in Bette’s eyes at Sharen and Ronnette’s wedding. I remember the great love and care that Sharen and Ronnette gave Bette. It was beautiful and inspiring.
